If you’ve been following our journey, you know that we have been working very hard for the last 10 months on renovating our cabin.
While we fell in love with it as is, and knew it was an amazing place when we purchased it, we wanted to take the original 1972 build and make it even better by bringing it up to date for 2021. We just want it to be perfect for us & everyone who chooses to vacation there when we open it up to rent.
We were almost at the finish line when we found out the deck needed a little TLC when one afternoon my foot went through one of the boards. Thankfully it was just me and not a guest! We wanted to make sure it was 100% safe for anyone who stays there, so we decided to redo the entire deck. That finally got completed…taking way longer than expected of course!
So, we went down to do the finishing touches this past weekend in hopes we could open it up to rent by Sept 1. In the middle of updating all of the electrical outlets and installing a cool new ceiling fan and chandelier, we got more bad news that stopped us in our tracks. A phone call came that a family member had unexpectedly passed away and we had to put everything on hold to deal with the sudden loss and make arrangements for everything. 😢
So, unfortunately that set us back on our opening date. 😞 We are now shooting for a November 2021 opening date…which might just be a blessing in disguise. What better time to spend at a cabin in the woods…the fall. The backdrop of all of the beautiful colors of the changing leaves, the crisp night air that is perfect to spend sipping on cider (or 🍻) sitting by the fire, or relaxing in the hot tub listening to some chill music.
We will get there. We just have to remember…life happens…and you have to make the best of it while you can! 🖤
